That is a big reason why property values are so low in many rural counties. A lot of the properties are abandoned and not being lived in. This leads to a general decrease in overall values along with the fact that very few new properties are ever built.

Also Des Moines grew by 11% from 2000 to 2006 (the metro).
At that rate it's looking for an 18-20% growth rate this decade. Or up to 90,000 people. How is this "slow"? |
