My husband has an interview with Rembrandt Foods in Thompson.

I cannot find much information at all about the surrounding areas. It looks fairly desolate.

Could anyone please share something about the area.

We homeschool our children. I am an RN, so any local area hospitals nearby!

What larger towns are located near Thompson that would be within 30 to 40 minute drive?

Tia

I've driven through Thompson several times on Hwy. 9 while taking different routes to I-35. It's definitely farm country. It's pretty close to Forest City which is a town of around 5,000 and home of Winnebago motor homes. There is a small hospital there. The closest town of any size to Thompson would be Albert Lea Minnesota, but is still maybe 50 miles away. Albert Lea is over 20,000 population.

Clear Lake is VERY nice. Tourist town (population triples in summer months I believe). Swimming, boating, camping, fishing, ...lots of festivals. Legendary Surf Ballroom is located there.

Next to Clear Lake is Mason City. All your big box stores you'd expect are located there.

Someone mentioned Albert Lea. Hospital there is associated with world reknown Mayo Clinic in Rochester....so that is real quality healthcare there.
