The Pointe - I agree. No.
Grands Ridge is safe with very minimal call outs. A domestic or welfare check very, very infrequently. Safe and a nice area.
Granite Valley is basically crime free. Since January of 2013, so over a year ago, two call outs. TWO. A trespass and a suspicious person or vehicle. Oh but that should be the case everywhere! Extremely safe.

Also avoid Shadowood Apts by Ellis Park. Drugs and dogs. Everyone has a big dog it seems, and the layout of the complexes are like a rectangle with one opening. So imagine when all the dogs step out and see each other in 3 directions. A symphony lol. Also maintenance is bad and renters had to go to the media when they had flood issues not addressed. Not tempting.

Another quick reply - tell boyfriend since the start of the year, at the Pointe apts. there was an assault, there is an ongoing investigation, drug issues, and at least 4 or 5 " special projects" which can be positive in some circumstances as a proactive measure, but generally indicates a need for LEO to give special attention in a manner of ways to problem areas. Increased visibility and familiarity being a good resource. If one wanted to equate the COPPS project with babysitting ( a simplification , to be sure ) the Pointe has a live-in nanny.

Julia, An opening is Seattle I've been awaiting came through! So unfortunately I can't assist much on this thread due to time constraints and eventually due to not being familiar with the dynamics of this and surrounding cities. I am not certain if links can be provided here. If you Google " Cedar rapids police calls for service" you can view the public police dispatch records and search by address, date or type of crime. It's not all encompassing as an " investigation", for example, doesn't reveal if its for a missing person or for drugs. But overall, it is helpful to put in an address and then expand the search date by the widest variable and see what comes up.
Best of luck to you in your move as I now face our move!
