Anyone know of a modern furniture store in Iowa City? I've searched for furniture stores but have not found any store that would carry the kind of stuff that I like.

Its not in Iowa city, but it is closer than IKEA...

Lifestyles Furniture (http://www.lifestylesfurniture.com/index.php3? - broken link) in Moline. I've been in there once, and they had some really neat stuff. Neat and expensive. Its not a very big store though.

MetaHome in the mall downtown looks like it might be up your alley. It's pretty small, but should have some things to get you going. I walk by it pretty often, but haven't done any business with them.

The Design Ranch on Davenport St. is also pretty small, but has very cool modern furniture. I think they can also order more things for you than what they have on display, but I've never actually shopped there, just been inside to look.

There used to be a store called Scandinavian Interiors on the Coralville Strip, and I heard that they moved somewhere, but I don't know where. So that's not all that helpful, I know, but I was wondering if anyone knows if they did move or if they just closed?

How does "modern" furniture differ from contemporary furniture. Just asking.

I don't know exactly, maybe it is considered contemporary. I'm thinking very minimalistic and sleek. The closest thing I can compare would be sort of IKEA looking stuff. The furniture I saw on craigslist and other main furniture stores in the area have nothing that I like. I'll have to check out the ones listed on here.
