We are retiring and are planning on moving back to our home area in the Quad Cities. We have been looking at homes in eastern Davenport and Bettendorf. I was curious if anyone had thoughts on the area around Middle Park, between 23rd St and Fairmeadows Dr. Bettendorf seems quite nice but we don't know too much about this area of the city. We are not looking for the absolute best part of the city, just looking for a nice, safe neighborhood that isn't on the decline. Any advice is appreciated.

There's no unsafe areas in Bettendorf.

I lived near the area you're talking about. It's an older, middleclass neighborhood compared to the new areas out by 53rd and devils glen road obviously, but it's a nice, well established area.

My favorite area is the neighborhood around Jefferson elementary school. Quiet, tucked away. Older, smaller homes but they have character and are well maintained.

You have easy access to river drive/grant and state streets, and also can shoot straight up to locust/middle road. And the I-74 on ramps a few blocks away to get you to anywhere in the QCA.

Thanks for the responses. We wound up buying a house by Middle Park. I know the other neighborhood you speak of. I have a sister who lives in that area. She really likes it.

I had issues with a lot of loud music in my old neighborhood Bettendorf. It did seem safe and not much if any violent crime. The Bettendorf School District is excellent. The only issue was the loud music on a constant basis. There also seemed to be a lot of rentals, which kind of runs down a neighborhood if they are not taking care of properly. All in all, talk to your neighbors and make sure they're people you'll want to be around and perhaps, ask how many houses are rentals on your street! Finally, ask if there are any issues with other neighbors on the street! You might be surprised what some people say. I know I sure was. Hope you enjoy your new neighborhood!
