Feral Cats
I live in Florida and saw on the news that Randolph was having the same problem we have here. When I moved here 2 years ago, there were at least 30 cats running wild in our neighborhood. (One of our neighbors fed them, which here is as much against the law as it is to kill them.) However, since then the kind hearted soul passed away and another neighbor and I have taken it upon ourselves to feed them and also to catch them to take to a vet in town that will spay or neuter for $25 each. He checks for cat leukemia and rabies first and, if non-existent, he gives them a rabies shot, then does the snip-snip. He clips their left ear tip, so we can tell we don't have to trap that one again, and returns them to our neighborhood. Not only does it cut down on the cats we feed but we know they don't have rabies. It might solve your problem and not set you back that much. Now if we could only figure out a way to solve the homeless problem....hmmmmm.

Thank you for the great suggestion ! I live in Massachusetts and am outraged by the thought of killing these wonderful animals. I truly hope that they do the right thing and keep these cats alive.

I think this town should get help to spay and neuter these cats.It makes me feel they have no respect for life.I would not want to live in this small minded town

They did find a solution. I saw on the news the other night that only 2 cats were captured and killed. They are trapping the rest of the cats and fixing them before releasing back into the community. Not sure who is paying for it.

A lady in the town where I lived in Texas rescued cats, she took the feral ones to local farms where they were able to live with shelter and food. Its a nice alternative if the cats are too old to be taken into a home or one is not available.

Oh of course, she had several farms and ranches that wanted to take them in. She had a vet that would give them shots and fix them.
