I have nothing nice to say about Des Moines and its disgusting surrounding urban sprawl so I just won't say anything...other than that.

Well, I don't think I'm going to take the time to name everything I like about Des Moines, but I can pitch in a few things of my own.
I love the downtown first of all. It is the perfect size for me, though I don't mind that it continues to grow. Downtown Des Moines - Home <-- this website does an awesome job describing why I like Downtown Des Moines ... maybe check it out if you aren't busy. I also like the layout of the Des Moines metro as a whole - as well as the feel of the city and the fact that it is in Iowa. Personally - I'm partial to traditional Iowa culture so this place fits me well. I like the people - and I like that it's somewhat of a large area but still very laid back. It's also very very clean as a whole. Which is one of the main reasons I would live here over Omaha. Another poster mentioned somewhere the scenery doesn't help out the city in creating an identity - but I feel it has a traditional Iowan scenery, which I love. I love the timber near the river valleys in the middle of the city - as well as the fields/plains all around us. DM works for me I guess. |

Suburban sprawl is just a normal symptom of growth. So obviously Des Moines has something to offer if it is growing fast enough for sprawl to occur. Most cities have it by the way...

There has been some talk about urban development on the south side where the IA 5 corridor runs. This would be for the city proper and not more suburban sprawl. Hopefully it will make Des Moines (city proper) get around that 200,000.

Jonez doesn't usually create new accounts unless he's been banned.
