Brain Fart
My normally intelligent, articulate daughter has had an epihany-of sorts. Her long-timelive in boyfriend has been offered a job in Des Moines with pay on par with our C. Florida area (high). Now, I'm not bowled over with the climate here in Florida...but if my daughter complains about the weather here it's over the level of humidity...something I understand is as bad or nearly as bad in Iowa?
On a personal level...she's been offered many teaching positions in Des Moines that average about the same pay as Florida (low nationally). I've read and supplied her with the demographics. I've seen bad demographics and great...Iowa seems to fall in the middle somewhere, depending on the area.
THE QUESTION:
Someone please give me the ammunition that my daughter will think about...
and change her mind!
Thanks

Humidity sucks in Iowa year-round. In the summer it makes it feel hotter than it really is, in the winter it feels colder than it really is. And it gets plenty hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

Glad you got a chuckle - my weird sense of humor doesn't always come across well in forums.
Yeah it's humid here in the summer. Cold as all get out most winters (not this one so far - it's raining today!!) with an awful lot of snow some years.
The Des Moines area is a good place to live - if you're careful in picking the neighborhood. If she decides to come up even if you don't want her to post here and get some guidance on where to live. She'll find a whole bunch of friendly folk here, even if Catus Sam didn't...
Good luck!

Actually, high humidity makes it feel WARMER in winter, not colder. I lived in Iowa for a while. I'm from NYC and left because I missed NY, but it wasn't the weather that made me leave.
