Who's loving this weather?
Let's see... tornado warnings tonight, snow tomorrow, 70 degrees predicted within a week... and people wonder why we like to talk about the weather so much in Iowa!

I thought I saw a few snow flurries at about 3am last night. It's sunny now, raining all day. I was hoping to get some quality yard work in, but I guess it's going to have to wait another week or so.... weather depending.

lol! nice thread... yes the weather is quite unsteady here in Iowa. I'm just glad the snow is staying up in the NW part of the state by So Dak. (At least I hope?! )
Needless to say I love tornados. (in the distance)

I just thought of something I was wondering about when those tornadic storms were happening a couple nights ago.... What happens when a tornado hits a nuclear power plant? Are they tornado-proof? If not, you think they would refrain from building them in places like Iowa.
I thought of this because I saw on the radar that the supercell storm was heading N. from the Fairfax area up to Palo where the plant is located. Just curious to see if anyone knows.

According to this site, Stupid Question ™, a nuclear power plant makes a great storm shelter. This site: http://www.nirs.org/factsheets/natur...clearpower.pdf makes it sound a little less carefree.
We tell everybody we built within a few miles of the Palo plant because, if it goes, we'd just as soon not survive the initial blast. And, beside, it makes the dogs so much easier to find at night when they glow in the dark.

No, it just showed up as typical URL gobbleygook until I hit "submit reply," I promise! I don't think it's a stupid question; I live next door to the silly thing and it never even occurred to me!
