Question Possibly Moving to Vinton Iowa

I was thinking of moving to Vinton. I was wondering the job market in the area, also the utilities cost. Was in the Military before moving to Minnesota with the family and was told alot of jobs in this area. Well seems to turn out my wife's cousin was against the military and had no idea of what was not out there.
Reason for this area was inlaws and son has PKu and needs to go to University of Iowa for treatment, from research I did in the area. Before moving want to know of the options. I visited knowing people are friendly and helpful in ways. Was wondering what is out there.

I grew up a few miles from Vinton. It's only 5000 people or so. About all you're gonna find is some retail jobs or some farm related jobs. There arent any factories there at all that I can think of.

Of course if you are willing to drive 45 min. to Cedar Rapids or Waterloo you can find about any job you want there.

Vinton has had very slow growth because it has no industries besides farming and is very isolated from larger cities like CR and Waterloo.

I guess one good thing is that the taxes are low. Theres also very low crime and they have a skating rink and bowling alley.
