State Jazz Championships finalists?
Anyone know who the top 2 finishers are in each of the four classes that will be competing tonight in the Iowa State High School Jazz Championships tonight at the Des Moines Civic Center?

I don't know, but because there was a special event downtown I had to pay parking in the ramp when I went to see In Defence and Des Moines' own Black Market Fetus at Vaudeville Mews tonight.  |

A lot of upsets this year. Iowa has amazing talent in this area, and it is wonderful how even the smallest schools can pull together bands that blow your socks off. For those folks evaluating places to move and quality of schools, I hope the music education is also a topic of interest!

A perennial jazz powerhouse! I think they took first in their division last year, too. Odd not to see Des Moines Valley (or my own Woodward-Granger) in the top five, but I'm sure they'll be back, and I understand both performed very well yesterday, just not well enough! |
