Default Best Part of the Cedar Rapids Area?

We will be relocating from Washington State to possibly the Cedar Rapids area in about 3 weeks. I would like opinions on the best area within Cedar Rapids or surrounding towns for raising a family. We are looking for good schools and a safe neighborhood. Also if there are other towns within the Eastern half of Iowa (say from Des Moines east) I should also be looking into, opinions would be appreciated. My husband will be working out of the home so our exact location is undecided.
Thanks

Default check out Iowa City

Having lived in both Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, I much preferred IC. CR is the bigger of the two, but IC has the University, so lots more going on there. Great school system, too.

I'd highly recommend the Des Moines area. It is on a major roll. See my other posts on what is happening here. If you need to stay in Eastern Iowa, I highly recommend Iowa City.

To learn more about the growth and dynamism of Des Moines, check out this website:

(this is not my site, I just use it frequently to keep up on what is happening)
