My hubby had to evacuate his downtown DSM building earlier today and can't fly home to see us this weekend bc of possible issues with the airport on Sunday - we are so bummed. Fortunately the place he is staying in Altoona is not affected at all.
Does anyone now about the Osky area, particularly near the G20 and Galveston Bridge? We have friends there and have not heard from them. Their place is in about 300 ft from the river but up on a tall 200 ft bluff so who knows.
I just so happened to be in DSM last weekend and saw some of the starts of the state flooding up near Ankeny and Saylor Lake (man it is gorgeous area up there! wow!) - it was incredible seeing so much water all over the state. As you know, we come from Arizona so any water is great with us ;-)

eeewwwe, that came out sounding wierd when I said "any water is great with us." Ooops, sorry if that minimized what everyone is going through in the Iowa floods.
Praying protection and provision for everyone in need. <><

Grew up in Sioux City and went to college in Iowa City. I have lots of friends in the state still and my prayers are with all who are suffering right now. I remember '93 and a few smaller floods of the Missouri in the 80's but WOW, this is crazy. But my heart smiles when I see people working together sandbagging, etc. Iowans are really good folks and I am proud to have been raised with Iowa roots. Hang in there Iowa!!

Hi, I have just seen a report on Fox news here in Australia (12.15am) and my heart goes out to you guys. The water looked horrendous, we flood here annually so my thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay safe and I hope the water recedes very soon. xox

We have been watching the coverage from Oklahoma. My boss' family is from Iowa. My prayers for all the displaced families and farmers who have lost their crops.

A friend of mine has been giving me updates from time to time. She told me my childhood home is completely under water. She could only see it's roof. It is about 9 houses away from Ellis Park. Absolutely heart breaking.
