You'll be fine. Tornadoes generally occur in the spring/early summer. Usually they're done by about now.
I didn't know where Marietta is so I looked it up and you will be very close to Marshalltown, which will have motels, maybe a Best Western and I think there's a smaller fancy hotel too. I'm sure there's campgrounds somewhere nearby
