Default Possibly visiting Des Moines next week...

Des Moines was on my short list of cities to visit for a possible relocation in August. But with all the flooding and closures, I'm wondering if I should wait. I wanted to visit in June, so if I liked the area, I could look at apartments for an August move. I'm concerned about all the flooding issues, however, and wonder if things will be better in a week or so, at least in Des Moines. Does anyone have any advice? I'm kind of stuck in terms of time, giving that I have to give my current apartment notice by the end of June....I"m so sorry for all the folks in Iowa going through this tragedy.

You'll be alright. Things are pretty much functioning as normal right now and hopefully it will be better by next week. Traffic is a little backed up right now though.

Yep. Des Moines really didn't get it too terribly bad--compared to Cedar Rapids at least. I would say if you can put off the visit just a little bit, maybe come at the end of the month/early July you should be fine. And when you do visit, just be a little patient and a little open-minded!

CrazyHorsePete is on a distinguished road
It's a week later and everything seems more or less back to normal in Des Moines. If you decide to come around the 4th of July, don't miss the excellent fireworks show downtown!
