Default Waterloo/Cedar Falls

I would strongly advise against a move to Waterloo but if you're going to do it, here's what I know. I lived in Waterloo for two years back in the mid eighties. I moved there to work at a company which was an industry leader at the time. After two years I just had to get out. It was very depressing. There was nothing to do, little in the way of restaurants or shopping and the downtown was one boarded up store after another. Maybe it has improved in the last twenty years, I hope so.
If your going to move there I would probably stay in Cedar Falls near the University of Northern Iowa as opposed to Waterloo. Also, don't live east of the river in Waterloo. That was the rough side of town. Hope this helps.
