Thumbs up Best apartment in Urbandale?!?!?!

I'm moving from Tucson, Arizona as a transfer student to Drake University and was considering moving into Westpointe apartments. Is this a good choice? If not what apartment should I consider in Urbandale. Thank you for the help.

I have never been inside the Westpointe building, but Urbandale is a great city to live in. If you are an undergraduate student like myself though, you would probably get bored living in Urbandale. I would recommend moving to one of the facilities closer to Drake. There are new apartments which are supposed to be open by this fall right across the street from Drake University called Drake West Village. There are several other complexes just west of Drake where many other students live. Chetwynd Place is at 35th and University. Drake Park Apartments are right on 34th Street (Greek Street).

If you are set on Urbandale, it is a great city, but you will have to commute every day. Not that commuting is necessarily a bad thing, but you are looking at 15 minutes (at least) each way from 72nd and Hickman. Parking at Drake can also be a hassle. If you don't want to pay $120 to park in the lots at Drake, you will be parking on side streets. This can be a hassle, especially in the winter. If the snow ordinance is in effect, many streets (including University Avenue) are off limits.

I wish I could answer your Urbandale apartment question better, but I have never lived in an apartment there.

Hope this helps, and feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about Drake.
