Can anyone give me the lowdown on Storm Lake, Iowa? The good? The bad?

Default Storm Lake, IA

I was raised in Storm Lake, Ia. Moved to Des Moines, now residing in TX (hoping to move back to Ia in a few years). My parents and brothers still live in Storm Lake.
I think it's a beautiful town. The lake is beautiful, they just built a nice waterpark. During the spring/summer, there's fishing, camping, boating, nice bike trail. As for nightlife, there's a few small pubs/bar and a small bowling alley but other than that, you kind of have to make due with what you have.
Shopping, well, there's no Macy's, sorry. Not a lot of options there either. You have the usual Super Wal-Mart Center, Hy-vee for groceries and Fairway(local chain).
Granted the neighborhoods are not the same. A lot of the homes have not been kept up. You can't leave your car and front door unlock anymore, but I think that's the same in any towns/cities nowadays.
If you any other questions, just let me know.

Thanks for the info! Since you are from there, are there many activities or entertainment for children? My husband is thinking about taking a job there, but we are pondering if it is a good fit for our family or not right now.. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
