I can understand that, it is a great step, although the routes will still remain in the south of the state only. I think in a state with 3 major universities ridership in train routes can be pretty high if the students use them. I lived in Illinois and train is the favorite way of transportation among students over there. I dont see why this couldn't happen in Iowa too

There use to be train service from Ames to Des Moines my monther in law tells me. I don't know how long ago it was discontinued but I would support it. I drive from Ames to Des Moines every day for work and it would be great to keep all those miles off my new car!

I grew up in Iowa and just recently moved away; but I would really like to see trains as a more common choice of transportation for people - even in Iowa! I know if I were there that would be a great option that I would take advantage of.
