That's why we are moving my husband will be taking a pay increase of 25,000 a year and we have a third baby on the way so we are looking to better our financially without giving up the ammenties of which we are accustomed to in Illinois. Illinois is so stinkin' expensive!!!!!

That's because the tail that wags the dog (Chicago) skews every state-wide average.

I can speak from personal experience that downstate Illinois is nearly identical to Iowa with respect to cost-of-living factors. In fact, homes and apartments located in the Illinois Quad Cities are cheaper than their counterparts in Davenport and Bettendorf.
