I would seriously pay $30 for a Hungry Hobo sandwich right now.

It is the main thing I miss from living in Eastern Iowa.


Anyone else have things they miss from the area?

Hungry Hobos? I think they are concentrated in the Quad Cities, (I can think of 6 or 7 of them in that area alone). I know there is also at least one in Iowa City, although the menu is slightly different.

I can't seem to find a good sandwich shop like that down here in Houston. All I see are Subways.

QuadCityImages is on a distinguished road
Judging by the website, it looks like there are 11 in the QC metro, one in Galesburg, IL, one in Iowa City, and two in the DSM metro. All the ones outside of the Quad Cities appear to be franchise stores, including the one that apparently closed in Cedar Rapids.

In addition to Hungry Hobo, there are three other Quad City area chains that are really exceptional in quality:

1) Whitey's Ice Cream
2) Happy Joe's Pizza
3) Harris Pizza

I might be in the minority or maybe the DSM locations aren't on par with the QC locations, but I find Happy Joe's to be horrible.
