Default We Need Your Help

We want to move to IA, but can't decide where. We are an older couple with a boy age 8, and a girl age 5. I am a sahm, but would like to find something, I can do at home. My dh is working for a manufacturer of small engines (Briggs & Stratton) as a machine operator. It looks like he will be loosing his job, in the very near future (company moving overseas).

This is a list of the cities that I like, but my dh want's to know what jobs are there.

BETTENDORF
CEDAR FALLS
IOWA CITY
WATERLOO

I would like to know about the schools.

Smile Manufacturing jobs should be available in all those cities

From your post, I'm thinking that "your dh" (dear husband?) would be seeking employment in manufacturing. There's more manufacturing in Bettendorf, CR, and Waterloo although Iowa City has some. Bettendorf is in the Quad Cities (Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa and Moline and Rock Island, Illinois). The QC is home to John Deere. There are multiple factories there. Waterloo also has a major Deere factory. Look for Iowa-specific job sites on the Internet.

Consider the Cedar Rapids area. Booming area, great schools. Really, really nice town. U of Iowa right down the road. It can be difficult finding a decent paying job in Iowa City. I'd pick CR over Waterloo & Quad city area any time.
