Thinking of moving to Iowa (Des Moines, Cedar Rapids: realty, apartments, jobs)

wow, both of us in SC and considering (hoping?) to move to des moines, AND I lived in IL too! When I was a kid, we lived on the kankakee river about an hour south of chicago. That's amazing! So much in common.

Just want you to know that the stats for the 2004-2005 have changed, even in our area we have so many more races moving into our town, as far as the school system here, the kids get treated all the same, color don't mean a thing. When they have a good parent that tells them to hold their head up high and that they are no better or worse then anyone else, they fit in just fine.
I have hugged so many kids working for the school, color didn't make a difference, I was everyones grandma, and I was out to make all the difference in every childs life, no matter if they felt they were having a good day or a bad day. They all knew they could come and get a hug from me.
I am sure what you seen on that site has changed, and don't worry, you will be fine.

Thanks for the response, it is quite scary. I have been on my job here in Chicago for ten years, but I am really working to pay the bills. The apartments in Iowa seem to be dirt cheap with all the ammentities you can dream of. Here in Chgo you pay $1,000 per month for a three bedroom and the area is drug infested and grimy. I went on Newsbury management.com website and they have beautiful apartments for rent. Can you or anyone suggest any other rental sites that actually show pictures of the properties?

I am considering relocation for work. I am a computer programmer. I used to be a software tester for embedded systems and I really want to get back to that. To make a long story LONGER, I've had initial contact with a company out in Iowa, and I am really praying that this works out. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to return to something I love with a really great company. I am hoping the phone call went well enough to get me out there in person. So, it may or may not work out, but I am soooo ready to get out of sparkle city!
