Sprit Lake and NW Iowa (best, park, area)

Last summer I continued my "tour de Iowa" and got to every neck of the state except the NW (which I hear is a can't miss). Actually - I know it's a can't miss, I was up there ten plus years ago and it was gorgeous. This year, I'm planning in advance. I WILL spend some significant time up there THIS summer. Any suggestions - best spots, places to stay? Looking for a nice, scenic respit where I can entertain my 4 year old as well. He doesn't require much - a lake and a boat will do us each just fine

I use to go up there when i was a kid . around in there they have an arnolds park for people its not as big as adventureland is and as far as towns the small town up in those are kepted preatty well i know spencer is taken care of and s its not really too far from lake okoboji there is cabens around in spirit lake area .
