March weather
I will be in Cedar Rapids in the beginning of March and I was wondering what the weather is usually like during that time. I haven't been there that time of the year in a very long time. So if someone can tell me what to expect I would greatly appreciate it. Should I pack heavy sweaters and a heavy coat... ect?

Yes, March is still winter in Iowa. You can expect temps regularly in the 20's and 30's still. March is that between month where we can expect some of the bigger snowfalls because of the increased moisture in the air.

Average highs for March are anywhere from upper 40's at the beginning of the month to mid-upper 50's by the end of the month.
It's gotten up to near 90 degrees in March though, and has been as cold as the teens.
The poster above said it's still in the 20's and 30's in March, but should probably clarify that those are the average low temps, not the average highs. Lows are around mid 20's, and are in the upper 30's by the end of the month.
It does snow in Iowa during March on occasion, but with average temps around 50, it normally doesn't stick around very long. March is one of the quickest months for weather change in Iowa from late winter to spring.

It could really go either way. We've had 70s and 80s and we've had single digits and major snow storms. 8 times out of 10 though it is cold and rainy 40 degree crap. Make sure you bring a coat and prepare for the worse.

I'm with zz4guy ... bring clothes for spring and winter conditions, because the weather is just that random.

My kids and I came to Iowa for 2 years in a row for Spring Break, early March, and were snowed in. This has been years ago, but I vowed never to come in March again. Of course I am from Texas so anything under 60 is cold to me!

Last March when I left for spring break, there was probably about 2 feet of snow on the ground and it was below freezing most days. I got back and all the snow was melted and it was in the 50s and 60s. I'd say be prepared for just about anything, Iowa weather is extremely random and especially during springtime.
