Oxford Junction, Iowa (Cedar Rapids, George, Franklin: rent, high school, college)

My grandparents live in Oxford Junction, Iowa when I was a boy - George and Blanche Cress (My mother's side) and Ed and Clara Clausen my dad's parents. I lived in Cedar Rapids from 1948 through February 1956 while my dad coached football at Coe College. I went to Polk Elementary School on B avenue in Cedar Rapids and and Franklin High School. I was on the varsity football team at Franklin in 1955 - was also on the wrestling team.

I started looking up information on Peter Clausen, my great grandfather on google, he came to the US from Denmark in 1866 - Ed Clausen was his youngest of his 13 children.

I have found memories of growing up in Iowa.

Ed: I see your post regarding Oxford Junction is over a year old. A buddy and I rode out bikes through Oxford Junction today, riding back to Cedar Rapids from Bellvue, having ridden on RAGBRAI.

I have some comments and thoughts on OJ, and also on Cedar Rapids, where I reside. I can tell your memories are warm and genuine.
