Go figure.

It's more of an upper-midwest thing. That area has been democratic for quite awhile.
Strangely it doesn't really follow any state borders, but in general is southern/western Wisconsin and eastern/northern Iowa.
There are also areas in southern/eastern Minnesota and Northeastern Illinois that are quite rural, but can easily sway democratic.

You can see the purple blob over Wisconsin/Iowa border.
2000 was the worst for the democrats, but they gaine in 2004 when much of the country lost, and of course in 2008.

So is being Liberal supposed to be a good thing...or possibly cool/trendy? Are many people affiliating themselves with liberal/democratic agendas regardless of the issues?
I'm pretty middle of the road, I just don't get why people are so hung up on the issue when if fact most do not know why or what the hell they stand for?????
Sorry, that's a little off base, but I've been wondering that for some time now.

Yeah, that's what kinda worries me. You have this enormous following, many of whom know very little of the party they stand for.
I wish the ultra left 20% and right 20% would just go away!

It comes and goes. Conservatism was the "trendy" ideology from about 2001 to 2005 if I remember right. Now liberalism is "trendy", for however long it lasts.

For the younger generations it's definitely been liberalism since at least the late 90's. Before then I was eithe too young to know or care.
