I fell that Iowans are open-minded. may people come here for the acceptance that we have Yes We are. I have ethnic friends that have lived in other Midwestern Cities (Chicago, Twin Cities etc.) they are just amazed by how Iowans treat others We are accepting, honest hard working people/ We also values education and are educated.
As the west to east progressive liberalism, I think that is because it is because the RELIGION of those over there are of a more Conservative nature. I have lived on both sides of the state and it really was a culture shock on how liberal the eastern part of the state was

No we just don't get excited over 50-75 new jobs when our metro is 200,000. Which begs the question why Des Moines is head over heals for this place. Must be hurting pretty bad for tech jobs out there...

In this economy, every city is head over heels for any jobs. I'm certain that if the data center had been announced for Cedar Rapids, the Gazette and others would have been all over it.

LOL, zz gets owned and comes back 2 wks later to respond. I'll go easy on you since it is Friday 13th.
Like SharpHawkeye said, your local rag would have been all over this had they chosen the Smellycon Valley.
Google's 75 job announcement made big news in an even larger metro than either DM or CR, but if they had chosen the "Valley," obviously it would have been met with a ho hum and a small write up next to the obits. No big deal. Right???

You da man DSMguy I guess I need to throw away more of my life and live on here like you.
75 jobs in a metro of 600,000 will do absolutely nothing.
Real news was the 1300 IBM jobs in Dubuque. Or a couple years ago when Collins hired 700 engineers. But 75 jobs? Who the heck cares except our worthless newspapers that never have real news to report anyway.
