Default Drake and Des Moines

Hey everybody. I am trying to decide between two law schools and Drake is one of them. I was wondering what the reputation around Des Moines is regarding law graduates from Drake. If anyone has any insight of the legal job market in Des Moines, specifically where Drake graduates end up working, it would be very helpful. Also, I have heard that Iowa as a whole is losing jobs at an alarming rate. Is this true? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know, but I think Drake has a good reputation around the state. I've never heard anything bad about it. I'll let someone from DM answer that more definitively though.

I really just wanted to comment on the job loss part of your post. Iowa actually has the 6th lowest unemployment rate in the US, according to CNN Money: Unemployment rates - Unemployment rates by state from CNNMoney

We have lost jobs, but so has every other state. Manufacturing is being hit hard with layoffs all over the place, but most of our other industries are still going relatively strong.

Yeah, the Midwest is one of the safer areas during this economic downturn, because we aren't being hit nearly as hard by the housing crisis. Property values are barely even declining.

Drake is a pretty well regarded school, not only in Iowa.

Quad City is right. I was looking online for houses in a suburb of Des Moines, where my parents live. There is hardly any inventory there, even in this market.

I'd have to say the western states of the Midwest are seeing minimal effects from the down economy... I'd hate to be looking for a job in Ohio or Michigan!
