Help needed with birth certificate
My wife needs to obtain a birth certificate or baptismal certificate for her dad who was born in Sidney. He is 91. She tried to order online through Vital Records who said no B.C. Exists. So that leaves a baptismal certificate. Does Sidney have a paper which would keep records back to 1917? The state of Oregon requires it for state ID and the dept. of Human services requires the picture ID before it can help with assistance. So we really need to get hold of a B.C. which seems unlikely OR a copy of a birth notice or a baptismal certificate. Any ideas? I stumbled on this forum and may not find it again. So I will post my e-mail address in case any one can help us. BTW, he lived many years near Malvern and may have gone to a Methodist church. His name is Henry Donald Huey. I understand the moderators might take his name out but we really need this data and apologize if this violates the TOS. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Have you tried a genealogy site? Some of those sites have search engines that may be able to come up with a birth certificate or at least the location of it

Since Sidney and Malvern are in Fremont County you might try the Fremont County Courthouse. You might try contacting the churches to see if they have any records...Churches in Fremont County include: Saint Pauls Church (A), Locust Grove Church (B), Mount Zion Church (C), Mount Olive Church (D), Kings Church (E), Summit Church (F), Victory Life Christian Center . Maybe you can contact the local paper to see if they have an announcement...

I think most states
I believe in the states in 1916, doctors were required by law to register all births and deaths. I would call the state health department for a copy.
If was in the Sidney courthouse and it burned, then that is another issue. Dad should know where he was baptized.

Call the county administration offices for the county in which he was born/baptised and they will be able to mail it to you after you mail them a check. If it burned down though, then they may no longer have the original... I'm sure there must be some type of legal substitute they can offer you that would be just as good though, if that is the case!

Local library might also have some records like that on file, in case the courthouse comes up empty.
