Default Property taxes in Iowa?

I've been trying to find some basic resources on the web for Iowa property tax rates. Any help much appreciated. What rates do you guys typically pay? Does it vary by county? I'm moving to the greater Des Moines area--Polk/Jasper/Poweshiek County. Still looking at this point, but trying to pencil in my property taxes.

In California, your property tax rate is frozen at the purchase price of your house. This is one of the reasons why the state of California is headed towards bankruptcy (In case anyone cares or was wondering. Anyway, as much as property taxes are a drag, the Iowa system seems much more intelligent.

I pay about $1900 on a $113,000 assessed house in Linn County. Commercial property taxes is where this state really cleans up.

In the Des Moines area, it is a goood rule of thumb to figure 1.5% of market value as your property tax bill. Example, a $200,000 house will pay roughly $3000 per year in property tax.

Property tax is figured differently in every municipality. Some will be higher than above, others lower. But the 1.5% rule is a good ballpark figure.
