You should drive to Ikea in Schaumburg, IL...not even a 3 hour drive. Just the fact that you'll save money because everything is priced well there should be enough to offset however much gas you use. Not to mention, much better selection.

Most on this forum will get mad if you even want to leave Iowa for a minute so I understand no one else told you that.

Not everyone has a car capable of carrying furniture, even "flatpacked," whereas a local place could theoretically deliver. IKEA shipping fees are pretty high. Also, Bolingbrook is closer than Schaumburg. But you'll get mad if you stop running down Iowa for a minute to view a map so I understand why you didn't tell him that.

Rent a car then that does have the capability. Either way, any small local merchant is going to have a weak selection and obviously be overpriced.

You'll probably still save money.
