I have a job a opportinity in Muscatine but I am considering living in Davenport.

Is 60k per year a good salary to live in Davenport?

I am married but have no kids.

Thanks

$60,000 + the wife's income with no kids= living like a veritable king anywhere in Iowa. You'll have plenty of disposable income to go along with your $225,000 home.

What if my wife stays unemployed for, lets say, a year.

Will it be difficult to live under my income?

How are rental prices in Davenport?

Nothing much over $1000 a month, and lots under. Exceptions include larger or newer single family homes, some downtown lofts, Alexis at Perry Pointe... but even those aren't much over $1k.

Seriously, a couple won't have any trouble with $60k a year. Your wife could stay unemployed as long as she wants!

Me and my girlfriend combined make less than $60,000 and we never miss a concert or festival etc... 60 without kids in dport makes you a baller.

Edit: no one I know pays more than $650 for rent, so $700-$800 will rent you a nice place.

What's your job opportunity in Muscatine? Employment figures for Muscatine are kind of dismal lately. Are you looking at working for HON (HNI) or Monsanto, GPC, Heinz, or maybe Musco lighting? Just curious.

As an IT consultant, I never know exactly which client it is that I will work next. But my feeling is that is Monsanto. I will post when I know for sure.
