Default Archie Brooks International Airport

Anyone have a name proposal for the Des Moines International Airport ? So far it looks like Tuskegee Airman Luther Smith has it sown up, the only other nomination was the airport manager. Are there any other famous people/pilots from Iowa history to consider ? Should they change the name at all or leave it the same ?

Change the name of the terminal building, not the entire airport. I doubt the FAA is too keen on name changes, particularly if it involves changing the airport codes.

Other honorarily named airports seem to keep their same old airport codes.

I think "Des Moines" needs to stay in the name somewhere. "Des Moines Luther Smith International Airport" isn't too bad, although I agree with DMRyan that they should just name the terminals rather than the whole airport.

I'd suggest the Sullivan brothers, but Waterloo would probably want that for their airport...

I vote no. Let's just leave it as is.

I sorta think Glenn Miller should have a mention, he spent alot of time in the air as a captain in the Army Air Force. I know his real purpose was to entertain the troops, but he took risks and paid with his life. Which brings us to another small point, he died and Luther Smith is still alive. Usually when they name stuff after someone, they have to die first and then they name it after them in memory.
