I am trying to locate any family member of Leo Leonard Sampson who was KIA 11 April, 1945 off Okinawa. Fathers name was Charles J. The family lived in Williamson.

Leo Leonard Sampson and two other shipmates were KIA 11 April, 1945. Twenty five others were wounded.

The sister of one of the others was located about seven years ago and until that time the family did not know how he was KIA nor where he was buried. All those years the family was under the impression he had been buried on an island but did not know which one.

I would like to let them know what happened.

The three men are remembered and honored every September during the USS Trathen DD530 reunion memorial servie.
