Default Buying a house in Cedar Rapids

When making an offer, is taking 10% off the asking price too much

Default It all depends

It really depends on the market and region, but here in Cedar Rapids I would not consider a 10% reduction in the asking price to be insulting. That said, it really depends on a number of factors...i.e., how long the home has been on the market, whether the seller recently reduced the asking price, what comparable homes in the area have recently sold for, the condition of the house, the location/neighborhood, etc.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have about Cedar Rapids.

Thanks!
It is actually a new construction on the SW side, and it has been listed for about 3 months, priced at a bit over 200K ... anyway, I just met with my realtor and put an offer, but was told there is already another offer for that house... I will see what happens

Always find it funny when someone puts and offer on a home that has been sitting for some time and all of a sudden other offers are also coming in.
