This may sound silly but when you buy a home in Iowa do you have to pay sales tax. Also is flood insurance expensive? Thank you.

You normally pay a real estate transfer type tax, but not sales tax. That would be extremely high.


I believe in Iowa the rate is $1.60 per $1,000 of value.

So a $200,000 house I believe would be charged $320.
