Canfield Hotel?? (Dubuque: apartment complexes, home, high school)

Cant seem to find an apartment in Dubuque so I wanted to stop in here to ask what all you thought of the Canfield Hotel for a month stay if need be.
I read some reviews and most were ok, but had a few bad ones.
Or if you can tell me where one can find some apartment complexes I could get into without having to come up with $1000 just to move in.

I would stay away from any place in downtown Dubuque. Another stabbing over the weekend and a lot of racial tension. Try and find something on the west end.

I teach at a high school in Dubuque, and we used to have a teacher whose family and home were in Eau Claire, WI who would stay at the Canfield during the week. He didn't have anything bad to say about the place, but it's not exactly the Ritz. It's a few blocks from the residential areas where the tension has flared up, so I doubt you'd find any problems around there.
