Iowa City Neighborhoods/Elementary Schools
Some of my relatives are moving to the Iowa City area, and they were wondering where the nice areas to live are. I have a nephew who lives in Coralville, so he tells me some things about the area but I think you guys will be a bit more insightful. He went to an elementary school called Coralville Central and he said that all of the rich kids at his junior high came from Weber and Wickham. So, my relatives are a family of four with two elementary school age kids and they want to know which elementary schools would be the good ones to go to and which neighborhoods are nice. Doesn't matter east or west side of town. Thanks!

Lincoln, Hoover, Lemme, Weber and Wickham are the wealthiest schools in the district, and as such they have the highest test scores. (Sadly, it does work like that.) I know most schools on the west side are fine, with Kirkwood, Hills, and Roosevelt being the least desirable. On the east side, definitely avoid Twain and Wood (those neighborhoods aren't very nice right now anyway). I actually went to Coralville Central myself and I think it is a fine school, it's not a very wealthy school but the teachers were great.

Iowegian nailed it, but I'll try to fill in some gaps.
Shimek is another good one, on the far north/northeast side. Mann, closer to downtown, is just OK. The North Liberty schools, Penn and Van Allen, are good but awfully crowded from what I hear.
