I am new to Des Moines and planning to move in River Oak Apartments.I am a female could some one tell me how safe is this area?

My guess is very - that's a very nice, safe and clean part of town.

It's a section 8 island unto itself (Creston) off 63rd close to Valley Junction. There was a fatal shooting there a couple years ago, I would be wary.
