Excuses....if one person jumps off a bridge does that mean everyone should jump? Let these companies use inexperienced workers. I say we all quit and let them fail, which they surely will! Screw them!

Did you take the job? How's it going for you? It's a 'chew you up and spit you out' type of climate.

IBM is forcing it's employees to work in a hostile environment. They will pay for that. If they think they are legally safe from the way they are treating their people, they are sadly mistaken.

The GDF is a joke, and will change in 2 years so do not try learning it.

YIKES, that's all? No wonder why they chose Dubuque. Of course all the incentives the city gave them was a big factor too.

I'm not in Dubuque but I've heard rumors that the college hires are staying with IBM just long enought to put them on their resume and then they are moving on.
Is there anyone at Dubuque who can tell us if that is a rumor or fact?

I'm sure some are as many do the same thing with any company to get experience and then move on if they find a better deal. However, the IT job market is not that great and IBM has only been open about a year in Dubuque so not a lot of experience to throw on resume.

I think that's what the professional hires will do. Sad to say the college kids just don't know anything. They really need to spend more time in college with hands on instead of theory, cause these kids are dumber than dumb. Screw the COBOL and Statistics courses and get some hands on Unix server administration.
The college kids will not be able to get a net admin job anywhere even with IBM on their resume, so they will be the ones staying at IBM.
Most who live in large cities with declining job markets like Chicago and LA will have to stay too so what can you do.
