I don't know why they are impolite. Perhaps because the "parisians" always run for go to the job, for take the subway....But the riots are far from Paris and most of the "parisians" never won't see riots.

Though I dunno if the rioters are really "French"...

I confirm, most of the rioters come from north Africa.

Maybe France should close their borders from North African immigrants if they can behave?

I didn't say that Parisians were "unsophisticated", I said a saw a lot of people who fit that description.
I actually thought that most people I dealt with in Paris were very polite. I was suprised.

The rioters are No. African. Paris has seen an influx of immigrants.

In response to blake99 and about Cactus Sam...last things first ...I think Cactus Sam has a burr in his saddle and probably is better off in the desert, away from the good people of Iowa! I've always felt Iowa is a good place to live and raise a family.I'd say,"Give it a go!"

I'd be suprised to find out if the Paris area was even 50% white. There are A LOT of folks from North Africa, the Middle East, SE Asia and the far Eastern reaches of Europe.

I have lived in Iowa all my life, granted I am only 16 years old but I would like to give you some prespective from a kid growing up in Iowa.
I am from a small communtiy about 600 people. I always complain that their is nothing to do, and lets face it for kids their is not a whole lot. I have learned how to entertain myeself(without getting in trouble with the cops!) I am involved in many school activites and I know if I would have lived anywhere else I would not have that.
I am glad I grew up here. I learned that your respect people, you look them in the eye and shake their hand. If think people from here can be snippy... where isn't there snippy people? Your going to find people like that everywhere.
However the down sides....
The smell of farming...ok yeah it stinks.. sorry people are just trying to make a living. If that really bothers you, then this is not the place to be
Meth Labs...yes their are meth labs...However.. drugs are everywhere
Weather...It's humid in the summers and cold in the winters. In my opinion it's a nice variety and playing in the snow can be a blast. You have the best of both worlds. Look on the brightside .. the next day it will be differant.
I don't know if you my side helps at all, but best of luck on your search!!!!
P.S. Dont think all people from Iowa are ignorant. Don't patronize us .. we have been off the farm some!

Moving back to Iowa, Osceola?
Can anyone tell me about Osceola, what it is like to live there? I hope they do not have commercial hog lots there, as some places in Iowa do.
I was raised in Marshalltown, but I want to live further south, hoping that is will be a little bit warmer for my retirement years..
Please tell me all you know about Osceola..I can't find much about it on the internet..Pictures and data..Thanking you in advance. Laura
