Seriously, the next person to post on this thread can legally be prosecuted as a juvenile regardless of their age.
Enough already!! Can we let this silliness die already?

I would have to give the upper hand to Omaha because it seems to have a more diverse economy. Des Moines is mainly finance and government. Omaha has service sectors, finance and a good manufacturing base. Oh yeah and it's only about 5 or 6 hours to the mountains
I really think that judging a city on the local atractions is shallow. ie who has the bigger zoo, arboretum, etc. After all how often do we go visit these things anyway? Once a year at most?? Who cares. I think a better judgement of a city's "worthiness" is how healthy and diverse its economy is.
PS Why does this thread have to die?

I knew somebody would take this seriously. It was just a joke. If you're going to drive 6 hours you might as well be driving 10 hrs.

That's kind of what I thought. I don't mind the extra hour or 2 though because I love the drive over to Colorado.

Are you serious? I can't stand this drive. Nothing but.... nothing!
Even with my foot to the floor the trip still takes an eternity!
What do you like about this drive? Just curious.

Everyone I know says this same thing.. I love it!
I like the scenery of Iowa, Nebraska, and Eastern Colorado ... and if that's not enough plains for you, you can go up through Wyoming depending on where you're going in CO. Love the Mountains too though.
You are correct though, it is sparse. I guess I'm just partial to that.

zz you're like the dwarf that hides behind the big guy and says to the other big guy (1/3 smaller big guy, with tall buildings), "if you say one more word, he's going to beat you up."

Somebody with a terrain-superiority complex!
Des Moines is a great city, and if I was raised there I would be very proud of the great city it is and continues to evolve into..
