Does anyone know if there is a Home for Unwed Mothers in Carroll? If not now, then in 1972? And, if so, what would be the name?
I am trying to help a friend locate his birth mother. And where was Camp Dodge located? Last edited by sobeit2; 06-10-2007 at 05:51 PM.. Reason: Add more information. |

I don't know about the home in Carroll. But Camp Dodge is located just outside of Des Moines in Johnston, Iowa.

Thanks, Poolman. The Internet supplied a list of all the Army bases in Iowa and it looks like there were nine altogether. The ones in Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Sioux City and Treynor have closed. There were quite a concentration of bases in that state.

Carroll is very Catholic. Catholic Charitiies is who adopts out babies for Catholics. There used to be a home for unwed mothers in or near Dubuque, IA that was run by that organization. If you find out how to get thru that system I'd love to know how you do it. PEACE
