Hello- My mom grew up in sabula and I am looking to share info and photos with family and friends. Her name was Verna or Geri Dickinson (Donahue). I believe her sister lived her whole life there in town (Shirley) and that her sister's husband (Julian) was once mayor maybe in the 70's. I am the
youngest daughter of nine and just looking for information and connections to my mom. ![]() |

Sabula is very small, so I doubt if you'll get many responses. The only thing that I know about the town is that the director of the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation is from & lives there- Rick Dickinson. He also ran for Congress last year, but was defeated in the primary. Good luck with your search.

Sabula is the only "Island City" in Iowa. It's located along 2 lane highways 52 and 64, across the river from Savanna, Illinois. Not much to talk about there, it is just the simple mid-america town, but on an island. i think the population is like, 700.
