In islam it is allowed to lie in 3 cases

as it was narrated by umm kalthum bint 'uqbah bin abee mu'eet she said i heard the prophet alayhi salaatu wassalam say: the liar isn't the one that makes peace between people or progresses towards it he then says good or progresses towards good, she then said: and i haven't heard that he made anything people say about lying except for in three (Situations): making peace between people, and the words of a man with his lady, and the words of a lady with her husband. bukari n muslim

if you can find other than that, then show us

There are violence verses in the Quran, and that is true, but all those verses are within a context and not General, they are for a certain time, with certain people, and can't be applied generally

This is a problem for me, because I am wondering if Moderate means the same in Islam as it does to Christians and Jews? I know Jews who eat pork: I know Xtians and Jews who will fight for equal rights for women and blacks and gays. They think it's horrible that the bible tolerates slavery. There are people of both these faiths, when asked, will say this-and-that are wrong in the bible: they will point to instances where god was violent and even condemn him for it. They say the biblical prescription for disobedient children is a horror and no one should do that.

How many moderate Muslims have I met who criticize the Koran in that way? No, I think perhaps the moderate Muslim is more like the fundamentalist Christian, who takes the holy book at face value and says it's precepts should all be followed. They may differ with others of the same degree of faith in interpretation, but not in the ultimate authority of the book.
Hello Gold,

There is no such thing as moderate Muslim, Christian, or Jew. a Muslim is a muslim, there are no different types of Islam, the muslim who doesn't follow all the rules in the Quran, he is a sinner and is not called a moderate Muslim
