They know their women would leave them if the women had half a chance. The only time they are "strong" is when the woman is being condemned and then they can hide behind the koran and torture and kill the woman. Like bullies everywhere, they hide and wet themselves when confronted with a real man.....or even a strong independent woman.

Yeah, I guess I just don't understand the whole thought process because it is so different and foreign.

There are two sides here which are Westren who think muslim women are being oppressed and Muslims who think muslim women have their right in Islam.First of all we can't take something from country and think it is going to work in the other country. And the best example for that is Iraq. And u know about the story.
Women in America may walk without protection ,and no body would bother her which is not true as I mentioned in the statistic before and how rape is increasing. So,if we apply the same thing u r saying,it is not gonna work out because Muslims countries are different. That is why I said women needs protection because it is not the same. Therefore,as a muslim I think Islam has given the rights for Muslims men and women to protect not only women but also men.

If u read about the history of women before and after Islam,u will have more understanding of the topic. So just type that on google and see if islam has given her rights.

I actually understand more then you think I do. I attended services, had Muslim friends and learned about Islam for a 2 year period. So I know about the history of Islam.

Islam does not respect in the modern age the rights of women. Nothing you say will change the reality of many many Muslim women in the world.

What I don't understand is the current trend of Muslims even with evidence to the contrary to stubbornly stand by incorrect information.

Islam is oppressive to women and that is a fact.

The proplem is that no matter what I say or Muslim women say,the Western will still think they are oppressed.

So,What exactly do Muslim women say about themselves in relation to the issue of oppression? In 2005, a World Gallup Poll[1] entitled, What women Want: Listening to the voices of Muslim Woman, revealed that the majority of women polled, in predominantly Muslim countries resented lack of unity among Muslim nations, violent extremism, and political and economic corruption. The headscarf or hijab, or any garment covering the face and body, often depicted as a tool of oppression was not even mentioned.

From the Quran
In the name of Allah most Gracious, most Merciful
“O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the bridal moneyyou have given them. And live with them honourably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and God brings a great deal of good through it.” (Quran 4:19)

Prophet Sunna
Prophet Muhammad, peice and blessings be upon him, said, “None but a noble man treats women in an honourable manner. And none but an ignoble treats women disgracefully.”

I think these are enough evidence that Islam gave muslim women their rights in Islam from Quran and Sunna and Muslim women themselves not me.

I don't really want to get in an arguement, because that's what religion talk always leads to lol, but I think that cartoon makes some good points. And I think it's kind of a cute looking cartoon LOL :-P .

Islam, in and of itself can oppress no one...those who practice it are the oppressors and as well the oppressed...the overseers are in fact slaves to whom they enslave. However, we smell the wolves coming to attack those who follow The Way. The Blessings of The Eternal One protect The babes and the mature in Christ...

the problem is that when faced with what is the truth you resort to cutting and pasting ayats and telling us we can't possibly know what we are talking about.

If I were a Muslim woman living in a Muslim country, I would be afraid to give honest answers in any sort of poll about oppression under Islamic regimes.
