so it is no surprise to me what I've seen in Iran, Tunisian and now Egypt. I based my predictions on the course of history I've seen in European Christianity over the centuries. I figured it was only a matter of time before these types of protests and uprisings began in the Muslim world and just like the printing press helped to fuel the [Christian] reformation, I figured today's internet (Facebook, Twitter) would provide the unraveling of old, archaic, dictatorship styled rule in some of these Islamic countries. What I cannot predict, however, is whether or not there will also be an eventual revolution in the religious arena of Islam where, over time, the grip it holds over so many Muslims will eventually loosen to the point where it just becomes what Christianity has become in Europe - a joke.

BTW, good morning, IiDM! Must be what? About 8:40am there? It's only 4:44 here. Yawn.

Anyhow, I suspect they see the last chance to inflict their idioms on the sheeple masses before the Internet and Western freedoms seep into too much of established society there.

Not to mention the abject suppression of independent thought that the past government, and the new Islamic hopefuls, want to inflict. They cannot think past the late 14th century after all. And power loves power as well.

Will radical fanatics fill the vacuum or people with [progressive] sense? Remember, Bin Laden's right hand man is from Egypt and was once imprisoned there by, I think, Murbarak. He is still hailed as a hero by many there.

Oh yeah, it's actually minutes to 8 here in NYC.
