Hello, I am currently taking a religion class and need to ask a few questions to a Muslim. However, I am currently traveling and do not know any Muslims in this area. So if anyone out here is willing to give me a hand that would be greatly appreciated…
My question is:
What is your personal understanding of the Qur’an, and the Mosque?
Do your personal beliefs correspond to the formal religious doctrine of Islam?
I know they are kind of broad question, but any answers or insight will help.

Thank you.

To begin with Islam has no central leadership on earth and no ordained clergy. Their is no formal religious doctrine. All Muslims follow the 5 pillars of faith and believe the 6/7 Fundamental beliefs of Islam. To the best of our ability.

Islam places emphasis on personal responsibility. We are obligated to verify all things we believe. It only takes a few seconds to become a Muslim, but it takes a lifetime to be one. Our studies are limited to only are abilities. We can go into areas such as Qur'anic Studies, Science of Ahadith, Islamic Jurisprudence, Sunnah ul Fiqh, etc.

My personal emphasis is on the Science of Hadith.

The Mosque is just a building. No man made structure is Holy. Most if not all Mosques are private owned having been built by the person who becomes the Imam. Any Muslim male can become an Imam. However, the community will not always accept a person as an Imam if they do not seem to have sufficient knowledge to lead the prayers.

Hopefully this will be a start for you, feel free to ask any questions.
