Sharia Law: Battlefield London - YouTube
Is it just me or does completely retarded wacky crap like this always seem to happen in the UK?

...and the people there just put up with it?!!! "Righto old chaps. Certainly you can have your independent enclave with gangs of fine young gentlemen ruthlessly enforcing your contrary laws on our sovereign soil, we'll be good sports about it. God save the queen and all that, let's have another round of sherry, on our side of the Thames..."

I agree with you but everytime reality shows that these libertarian values are not being upheld it just seems an excerise in futility to me.
Then again, no system is perfect.
At least a democracy knows what it's main weakness is.
Let me put it this way: I want America to be MORE libertarian. In many respects, this means being more like The Netherlands, a country I've visted, enjoyed, and think is right about many things.

I just don't see how promoting the adoption of Sharia law gets us closer to that goal. We have enough trouble managing our Christian fundementalist without bringing in more from the outside.

Folks,

Point One: If we're talking the good ol' United States of America here, we're talking of a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy.

This particular Constitutional Republic, as one of its tried-and-true foundations, has clearly separated the practices of Religion from the practices of State. (The First Amendment provision that prohibits government from respecting or favoring one religion over any other, and prohibits government from prohibiting the free exercise of any religion).

POINT TWO: I suspect that many of you are engaging in a false EITHER-OR argument: to wit, that EITHER Christianity will rule OR Islam will rule. The simple fact of the matter is that, by the terms of the United States Constitution, NEITHER WILL RULE, and NEITHER CAN BE PROHIBITED OR LIMITED.

With all due respect, please go bark up another tree.

The United States is a type of democracy. It is a representative democracy, as opposed to a direct democracy. It's also a Constitutional Republic.

[quote=sanspeur;21359704]How are they not worse? Christians abide by the laws of the countries they live in...The Muslims in the video want to create a Taliban type society with their own laws, and they won't be satisfied with the UK or all on Europe...They have already tried to get Sharia instituted in Canada.

So then why do they want to pass laws that violate the sepration of chruch & state? And have.

I rally doubt if you will see anything similar happen in the USA. It seems that the very things the people are trying to achieve in the UK have already been achieved in the USA. to a large extent much of what we want has already been done here, by other people. there are very few places in the USA were you will find public nudity, leal pornography or legal drug sales. A person can easily travel in the USA and find a city to live in that has similar moral standards as would be found under Sharian.

Here in the US the main concern is for recognition of Shariah for civil cases that involve only Muslims. As for liquor sales, nearly every state has "dry" Counties in which the sale of alcohol is illegal. Throughout the Southern States you will find towns in which the sale of alcohol, "adult" Books, Videos etc are illegal and there are public decency laws that do impose dress codes when in public. Also the Majority of American Muslims were born here and have family roots going back many generations here.
